Photo/Graphic Edges 4.0 works very much in the same manner that Version 3.0 did, and your
migration to 4.0 should be a painless and easy process.
Photo/Graphic Edges 4.0 starts you on the Edge Tab by default. As with Version 3.0, you must
first select an Outset Edge. The Edge files can be found on your CD in the "Edges" directory.
Once you have seleted your Outset effect, you can now customize your edge by resizing it,
changing the placement of the edge over your image (this allows you to change the portion
of the image that is edged), and rotating the edge. The tools which enable you to do this are
located on the large Preview Window. These tools show whenever the mouse is located
over the window. Simply click on the tool and move the edge as desired.
Effects can also be added to the edge in a dynamic manner. Simply click on the effect tab of our choice and create your effect. You can swap between these tabs at any point to determine how the combination of effects look. For example: you can add a Bevel to your edge, add a glow, and finally add a Texture to the Matte. All of these effects work together and your effect combinations are virtually limitless. Along these same lines, once you have added effects to the edge and you decide that the edge isn't getting the look you want, simply click back on the Edge Tab and select a new edge. All of previously chosen effects will now be applied to the new edge!
The Effect Log and Undo button also adds a new level of control to your effect creation. Each time you add an effect, the settings are saved in the Effect Log. The Effect Log gives you the power to turn any effect on or off at anytime. Perhaps that Bevel doesn't look so good with the Glow afterall - simply go into the Effect Log and turn the Glow off. It's that simple! The Revert button on the Effect Log allows you to quickly remove all of the effects from your image in one easy click.
